According to The Wall Street Journal has Director Mark Shuttleworth from Canonical, which is behind Ubuntu, so pronounced, that the first Ubuntu-based smartphone will be ready for sale in October. In the past, there has been talk about an expected premiere in late 2013 or early 2014.
App developers will already have access to the operating system at the end of this month. This is done via a version optimized for Galaxy Nexus phone.
Canonical-Director adds, moreover, to Ubuntu in the first place will be available on two large markets in October-the premiere. He does not want to clarify further, but said, however, that North America “certainly is a key market for Ubuntu.”
