Bill Gates Is No Longer the Largest Shareholder of Microsoft

The founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, has for many years been the largest shareholder of Microsoft.But now he must pass the throne.

That Bill Gates is a wealthy man, should not come as a surprise to many. Along with Paul Allen founded Microsoft, Gates who, as you know, is one of the largest IT companies in the world.

Last Friday believed Gates that it was time for a little more financial resources and therefore, 4.6 million redeemed by his Microsoft shares. The shares have a total value of 185.6 million dollars, well 1 billion Danish kroner. At the time of writing, Bill Gates has therefore “only” 330 million shares of Microsoft.

The sale means that Bill Gates is the second-biggest shareholder now only in Microsoft. The person with the greatest number of Microsoft shares is now Gates’s replacement, Steve Ballmer, the man who recently retired as Chief of Microsoft. Steve Ballmer is thus the largest shareholder in Microsoft, with 333 million shares.

Through the ages is Bill Gates gone from 64 percent of Microsoft shares, to now having only 4%. It is done by continuously have sold approximately 80 million shares each and every year.

One of the most expensive items in the Bill Gates economics, however, are not a garage filled with Aston Martins or a wife who depend on diamonds. The wife, however, has an expensive item in the budget, for Bill Gates and his wife Melinda founded in 2000 “Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation”, which works to promote health care in the poorest countries while reducing extreme poverty.
